Make the number five visible in a small, consistent space. Five Frame Number Discovery is a five-frame printable pack that invites children to notice filled spaces, empty spaces and two groups that fit together, using drawn dots rather than loose counting pieces.

Inside Five Frame Number Discovery

Eighteen five-frame challenges progress through counting filled and empty spaces, completing a frame to five, and combining two groups to make five. Includes a hidden-dot game and answers.

  • 18 five-frame challenges.
  • 24 pages per edition, including guides and answer or support pages.
  • Suggested ages 3-6, with adult support.

This pack stays with five-frame relationships rather than presenting a broad math curriculum. There is no need to race a timer, complete every page in one sitting or introduce extra manipulatives.

How to use this pack

Start with the worked example of three filled spaces and two empty spaces. Point to the whole frame, then name what is there and what is missing. Let the child use spoken answers or pencil marks instead of requiring neat numerals.

Move through the challenges at a comfortable pace: count the spaces, complete a frame to five and consider two groups that make five. Revisit the hidden-dot game when the child wants another way to think about the same total. Use the included answers for a calm check together.

Worked three-filled/two-empty example and all challenge answers included.

Materials and safe use

Paper, a pencil and optional crayons. The activities use drawn dots; no loose counters are necessary.

Adults choose safe materials and read the prompts aloud. Finger pointing and pencil marks avoid small loose pieces. Do not use timed drills or require neat handwriting.

Your files and printing choices

The download ZIP contains four PDF editions plus a README. Each has the same 24 pages. Choose ONE edition to print:

  • A4 Color (210 x 297 mm).
  • A4 Low Ink (210 x 297 mm).
  • US Letter Color (8.5 x 11 inches).
  • US Letter Low Ink (8.5 x 11 inches).

24 pages means pages per edition, not four times that amount of different content. Covers, guides and answer or support pages are included in the page count. The English-language PDFs are printable, not digitally fillable forms.

Open the ZIP, read the README and choose your paper size and color preference. Print selected pages portrait and single-sided. Start at actual size / 100%; check the preview and use fit to printable area if edges clip. You need a ZIP/PDF reader and printer access. Paper, ink and supplies are not included.

Household printing license

The purchasing household may print and reuse these pages with its own children. Files and printed pages may not be sold, redistributed, publicly uploaded, or used as a shared classroom or business resource. For use beyond one household, contact WonderKidsToy through the store before copying.
