A faulty plan can be repaired with one careful change. Find and Fix the Bug provides debugging worksheets for kids using printed grids and U, D, L and R commands. The challenge is to trace what happens, find the problem and replace exactly one command.

Inside Find and Fix the Bug

Sixteen paper-grid puzzles ask children to trace a faulty plan and replace exactly one U, D, L or R command. Includes two worked examples, repair explanations and a reusable debugging checklist.

  • 16 single-command debugging puzzles.
  • 26 pages per edition, including guides and answer or support pages.
  • Suggested ages 5-9, with adult support.

The pack focuses on a specific paper-debugging rule. It does not involve a code editor, a physical robot or an online account, and it does not modify or control any toy.

How to use this pack

Try the two worked examples and trace each printed command with a finger before changing anything. Compare where the plan leads with where it should go, then choose the single command you think needs replacing.

Trace the entire repaired plan again rather than checking only the changed step. Use the repair explanations and reusable debugging checklist to discuss the choice. Each of the sixteen puzzles has exactly one valid one-command replacement, so changing multiple commands is a different task from the one set.

Each puzzle has exactly one valid one-command replacement, independently verified.

Materials and safe use

Paper and a pencil. Use a finger to trace the printed commands. No physical robot, code editor or online account is involved.

This is paper-only debugging and does not control or modify any toy. No loose pieces are needed. Adults may read the commands aloud or write a child's spoken plan.

Your files and printing choices

The download ZIP contains four PDF editions plus a README. Each has the same 26 pages. Choose ONE edition to print:

  • A4 Color (210 x 297 mm).
  • A4 Low Ink (210 x 297 mm).
  • US Letter Color (8.5 x 11 inches).
  • US Letter Low Ink (8.5 x 11 inches).

26 pages means pages per edition, not four times that amount of different content. Covers, guides and answer or support pages are included in the page count. The English-language PDFs are printable, not digitally fillable forms.

Open the ZIP, read the README and choose your paper size and color preference. Print selected pages portrait and single-sided. Start at actual size / 100%; check the preview and use fit to printable area if edges clip. You need a ZIP/PDF reader and printer access. Paper, ink and supplies are not included.

Household printing license

The purchasing household may print and reuse these pages with its own children. Files and printed pages may not be sold, redistributed, publicly uploaded, or used as a shared classroom or business resource. For use beyond one household, contact WonderKidsToy through the store before copying.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a physical product or a digital download?

It is a digital ZIP of printable PDFs and a README. No physical workbook, toy or supplies are shipped.

Which paper sizes are included, and must I print every file?

Choose one of the A4 or US Letter editions in Color or Low Ink. All four repeat the same content.

What supplies do we need?

Paper and a pencil. Use a finger to trace the printed commands. No physical robot, code editor or online account is involved.

What ages is this for?

Suggested ages: 5-9. Ages are flexible guides, not assessments. Adult reading and discussion support are welcome.

Can I share the files or use them for a class?

No. The license covers the purchasing household and its own children, not sharing, resale, classroom or business use.

What do U, D, L and R mean here?

They are the printed up, down, left and right commands used to trace a route on the paper grid, not commands sent to a device.
